Inviting Team Members

Collaborate with your team by inviting members to your FlagMint organization. This guide shows you how to send invitations, manage roles, and help new members get started.

Overview

Inviting team members to FlagMint is simple:
  1. Send an invitation - Invite one person or multiple people at once
  2. They receive an email - Your teammate gets an invitation link
  3. They join your organization - They create their account and start collaborating
Invitations are valid for 3 days and can be sent to anyone with an email address.

Who Can Invite Team Members?

  • Admins can invite anyone and send bulk invitations
  • Editors can invite individual team members
  • Viewers cannot send invitations

Inviting a Single Team Member

From the Team Settings Page

  1. Navigate to Settings - Click the Settings icon in the sidebar, then select Team
  2. Click “Invite Member” - Find the button in the page header
  3. Fill in the invitation form:
    • Name - Your teammate’s full name
    • Email - Their work email address
    • Role - Choose Editor or Viewer (see roles below)
  4. Click “Send Invite” - The invitation email is sent immediately

From the Dashboard

You can also invite team members directly from your dashboard:
  1. Look for the “Invite Team Member” card on the right side
  2. Click “Invite Team Member”
  3. Fill in the same form as above
  4. Click “Send Invite”

What Happens Next?

  • Your teammate receives an email with an invitation link
  • The link is valid for 3 days
  • They click the link to create their account
  • Once they sign up, they’ll appear in your team list
Need to invite multiple people? At the bottom of the invitation form, click “Try bulk CSV import” to invite many team members at once.

Inviting Multiple Team Members (Bulk Invite)

Save time by inviting multiple teammates in one go using a CSV file.

Step 1: Prepare Your CSV File

Option A: Download Our Template
  1. Go to Settings → Team
  2. Click “Bulk Invite (CSV)” in the page header
  3. Click “Download CSV Template” in the dialog
  4. Open the file in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet app
Option B: Create Your Own Create a CSV file with these two columns:
name,email
John Doe,john@company.com
Jane Smith,jane@company.com
Mike Johnson,mike@company.com
Important Notes:
  • First row must be the headers: name,email
  • One person per row
  • Maximum file size: 1 MB
  • Free plan: 1 invitation at a time
  • Paid plans: Up to 20 invitations at once

Step 2: Upload Your CSV

  1. Click “Bulk Invite (CSV)” from the Team Settings page
  2. Drag and drop your CSV file onto the upload area, or click to browse
  3. Wait a moment while your file is processed

Step 3: Review and Assign Roles

You’ll see a preview of everyone you’re about to invite:
  • Green checkmark ✅ - Ready to send
  • Red X ❌ - There’s an error (fix the email or name)
  • Yellow warning ⚠️ - Duplicate email in your list
For each person, select their role:
  • Editor - Can create and modify feature flags
  • Viewer - Can only view flags
You can:
  • Edit names or emails directly in the table
  • Change roles using the dropdown
  • Remove anyone by clicking the trash icon
  • Click “Back” to upload a different file
When you’re ready, click “Continue”.

Step 4: View Results

After sending, you’ll see a summary:
  • ✅ Successful - Invitation sent
  • 🔵 Skipped - Person is already a team member or was recently invited
  • ❌ Failed - Invalid email or other error
Click “Done” to close the dialog, or “Send More” to invite additional people.
Skipped invitations aren’t errors - they just mean the person is already in your organization or already has a pending invitation.

Plan Limits

If you try to invite more people than your plan allows:
  • Free plan: You can invite 1 person at a time
  • Paid plans: You can invite up to 20 people at once
To invite more people, either:
  • Send multiple batches
  • Upgrade your plan

Understanding Roles

When you invite someone, you assign them a role. Here’s what each role can do:

Editor

Best for: Developers, product managers, team leads Can do:
  • View all feature flags
  • Create new feature flags
  • Edit existing flags
  • Toggle flags on/off
  • Create and edit segments
  • Manage environments
  • View analytics
Cannot do:
  • Manage billing
  • Delete the organization
  • Change other people’s roles (only admins can)

Viewer

Best for: Stakeholders, analysts, observers Can do:
  • View all feature flags and their status
  • View segments
  • View analytics and reports
Cannot do:
  • Create or edit flags
  • Toggle flags on/off
  • Create or edit segments
  • Invite team members
You can always change someone’s role later from the Team Settings page. Only admins can change roles.

Accepting an Invitation

If You’ve Been Invited

When someone invites you to their FlagMint organization, here’s what to do:
  1. Check your email - Look for an email from FlagMint with the subject “You’ve been invited to [Organization Name]”
  2. Click the invitation link - This takes you to the sign-up page
  3. Review the invitation details:
    • Organization you’re joining
    • Your assigned role
    • Who invited you
  4. Choose how to sign up:

Option 1: Sign Up with Google

  1. Click “Continue with Google”
  2. Select your Google account
  3. You’re all set! You’ll be redirected to the dashboard

Option 2: Sign Up with Email and Password

  1. Enter your full name (pre-filled from the invitation)
  2. Create a password:
    • At least 8 characters
    • Include uppercase and lowercase letters
    • Include at least one number
  3. Confirm your password
  4. Click “Create Account”
  5. Check your email to verify your account

After Signing Up

  • You’ll have access to your organization immediately
  • Your role determines what you can do
  • You can start collaborating on feature flags right away
Invitation links expire after 3 days. If your link has expired, ask your teammate to send a new invitation.

Managing Your Team

Viewing Your Team Members

  1. Go to Settings → Team
  2. You’ll see a list of all members with:
    • Name
    • Email address
    • Role
    • When they joined

Removing a Team Member

Only admins can remove team members.
  1. Go to Settings → Team
  2. Find the team member in the list
  3. Click the trash icon next to their name
  4. Confirm the removal
  5. They’ll immediately lose access to your organization

Common Questions

How long are invitations valid?

Invitations expire after 3 days. If someone doesn’t accept in time, you’ll need to send a new invitation.

Can I resend an invitation?

Currently, you’ll need to send a new invitation if the old one expires. We’re working on adding a “resend” option.

What if someone doesn’t receive the invitation email?

Ask them to:
  • Check their spam/junk folder
  • Search their email for “flagmint”
  • Check with their IT department about email filtering
If they still haven’t received it after a few minutes, try sending a new invitation.

Can I invite someone who already has a FlagMint account?

Yes! If they already have an account, they’ll be added to your organization when they accept the invitation.

Can the same person be in multiple organizations?

Yes, one person can be a member of multiple FlagMint organizations with different roles in each.

What happens if I try to invite someone twice?

You’ll see a “skipped” status if:
  • They’re already a member
  • They have a pending invitation that hasn’t expired
  • You included their email twice in a bulk upload
This prevents duplicate invitations and doesn’t count as an error.

Can I change someone’s role after inviting them?

Yes! Admins can change any team member’s role from the Team Settings page. The change takes effect immediately.

Do invitations cost anything?

No, sending invitations is free. You only pay for your subscription based on your plan.

Can I cancel an invitation?

Currently, invitations expire automatically after 3 days. We’re working on adding a manual cancellation option.

Tips for Success

For Sending Invitations

  1. Use clear names - Use full names so team members can recognize each other
  2. Double-check emails - Typos in email addresses will fail
  3. Assign appropriate roles - Give people the access they need (but not more)
  4. Plan for growth - Consider your plan limits before bulk inviting

For Accepting Invitations

  1. Act quickly - Don’t wait until the last day; links expire in 3 days
  2. Use a strong password - If not using Google sign-in
  3. Check the organization name - Make sure it’s the right team
  4. Save your login info - You’ll need it to access FlagMint later

Troubleshooting

”Invalid or expired token” Error

Why this happens:
  • The invitation link is older than 3 days
  • The link was already used
  • The link was copied incorrectly
Solution: Ask your teammate to send a new invitation.

Can’t Upload CSV File

Why this happens:
  • File is larger than 1 MB
  • File isn’t a CSV format
  • File doesn’t have the correct headers
Solution:
  • Make sure your file is saved as .csv
  • Use the template we provide
  • Reduce the number of rows if the file is too large

”Plan Limit Exceeded” Error

Why this happens:
  • Free plans can only invite 1 person at a time
  • Paid plans max out at 20 invitations per batch
Solution:
  • Send invitations in smaller batches
  • Upgrade your plan for higher limits

Invitation Email Not Received

Try these steps:
  1. Wait 5-10 minutes (emails can be delayed)
  2. Check spam/junk folder
  3. Search email for “flagmint” or the inviter’s name
  4. Ask your IT team if emails from flagmint.com are blocked
  5. Request a new invitation to be sent
